Outsiders were tasked with constructing a bespoke garden room in a small courtyard garden in Hammersmith. The homeowners, needing a functional office space, required planning permission due to the property’s location near a river. Outsiders managed the entire process seamlessly, ensuring a stress-free experience for the client.

Up and over window

  • Up and over skylight
  • Feature joists
  • Green roof
  • Bespoke cabinetry

The standout feature was an up-and-over window, a skylight and window in one, which flooded the room with natural light and made a bold design statement.

The interior featured plywood cladding for a warm, minimalist aesthetic. A built-in desk and shelving system with LED strip lighting ensured practicality and style. Exposed beams added an architectural feature, while a sliding-door storage cupboard kept the space organised.

Bespoke Cabinetry

Externally, the garden room was clad in Yellow Balau, a high-quality timber chosen for its durability and natural beauty, which complemented the surrounding garden and tied in with the home’s exterior. Copper drainpipes added an elegant finishing touch, combining functionality with a luxurious aesthetic.

The standout feature of the room was an innovative up-and-over window, a unique skylight and window combination that flooded the space with natural light while serving as a striking architectural statement.

The garden room provided a stylish, functional office space that harmonised with the home.

Top marks! Our garden room has far exceeded our expectations! We had good fun hosting Chris and Adam as they created our new space from scratch. They accommodated every request we made.
