There’s a ‘secret garden’ charm about having a sanctuary tucked away in a leafy, secluded spot outdoors, and that’s exactly what we helped our client in Ongar bring to life in a previously neglected but nonetheless perfectly private space at the end of their narrow garden.

  • External lighting
  • Bifold doors

Maximising the foliage-fringed ground space, we installed a spacious and versatile studio which can easily adapt to the changing seasons and needs of the family – from a safe play space in the colder months, to a place to entertain in the summer.

Look closely and you’ll see a secret door built-seamlessly into the front cladding that hides an abundance of space for kids toys and bikes, gardening tools and outdoor furniture.

Bifold doors maximise light

Helping to maximise the light in this shady site, generous bi-fold doors swing open to let the outdoors in, while a window in the adjacent wall makes the space brighter still.

It also promotes cross ventilation in the warmer months, while a wall-mounted radiator ensures a cosy temperature when it’s chilly outside.

On the exterior, Antique Oak Millboard cladding gives the room a relaxed, contemporary finish, while discreet downlights add a welcoming glow as day turns to night..

This project in Ongar was a fantastic opportunity for our team of highly skilled carpenters to create a beautifully designed, multi-functional garden studio. By transforming an overlooked corner of the garden, we’ve delivered a space that adapts effortlessly to the family’s needs throughout the year.

Antique Oak Millboard cladding is an excellent choice for its timeless, contemporary finish, as well as its durability and low-maintenance benefits, ensuring the exterior remains pristine without the need for ongoing upkeep. Seeing the family enjoy the space so much is exactly why we take pride in our craftsmanship and attention to detail.
