Our clients in Birchanger, Bishop’s Stortford, asked us to design and build a new sound therapy studio at the end of their garden. The size was important as it needed to be large enough for a treatment couch, with enough space for instruments and a small desk area to sit with clients before and after treatments.

Sound Therapy Studio

  • Foundations dug out for flush threshold
  • Sound proof plasterboard
  • Air conditioning
  • Frameless opening

We worked closely with our client, and a garden designer that our clients were using for the hard and soft landscaping to compliment the new room.

It was important that there was room for plants, and that the room would blend into the garden. Our clients wanted it to feel like the room had always been there, snuggled at the end of the garden. We included some outside garden lights in the package for the flower beds to light up the trees creating an amazing atmosphere in the evening.

Relaxation Area

We suggested that our client went for dark cladding, which would make the plants ‘pop’ against it. We also used a fixing technique meaning that no screws or fixings were visible on the front.

The three-meter bifold doors really open up the space into the garden. Even though it is a small garden, the room doesn’t dominate it.

We used sound proofed plaster boards to reduce some of the noises from outside, and added extra support to the back wall as the client may want to attach heavy shelves in the future.

I am totally over the moon with my new room! The team went above and beyond and delivered an amazing space for my sound therapy practice. I needed to know the exact size the inside was going to be in order to house my two new gongs, treatment couch and all the other instruments. The size is millimetre perfect. The cladding on the outside is so lovely – zero maintenance needed. The room looks like it has always been there, it fits perfectly.

I asked Rob if the team could dig down so that there wasn’t a step up into the room. This was no problem, a load of concrete was smashed up and removed. They were all so hardworking, regardless of the weather they just carried on. Communication was great, everyday we knew what was happening, and what would happen next.

I will be asking the Outsiders to comeback and install a sedum roof later on in the year. Highly recommend this company and great team of people.
