Outsiders had the pleasure of building this striking home gym and office in a space where an old garage used to be next to a beautifully designed, structural-style garden. The client wanted a garden room to mimic the clean lines of the existing garden’s black timber pergolas, symmetrical landscaping and ornamental planting.

Georgian bar detailing

  • 5m bifold doors with Crittall style Georgian bars
  • Skylight
  • Hidden store
  • Extra height – 2.8m

Sophisticated charred larch cladding echoes the black of the garden pergolas and wrought iron fencing, which we carried over onto the ground floor of the house.

Huge wall-to-wall, bi-fold doors with Georgian bar detailing pull back to bring the outdoors in, while a return window onto the garden and a skylight work in tandem to take full advantage of the natural light.

Plastered & painted interior

Maintaining the minimalism, a hidden store ensures the pared-back space is free of clutter and keeps garden furnishings to hand when the room is given over to summer entertaining.

The five-meter bifold doors and the extra height added to the room really open up the space into the garden.

Great quality, lovely team, fairly priced and overall really happy with the garden room we’ve now got. Rob and his team did a brilliant job from helping with design, plus all the way through to build, cleaning and finishing off. Can’t recommend them enough!
